Pettefer Out For Season

Pettefer could be available on a free transfer in the summer
Huddersfield Town defender David Mirfin broke the bone in a savage tackle on the 22-year-old during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the Alfred McAlpine Stadium. The Terriers blocker escaped with a yellow card, but for Pettefer the news is much worse as he will now sit out the Shrimpers’ last five matches of the season.

Steve Tilson and Paul Brush, who today allowed Carl Emberson to leave the club on a free transfer, will have to make a decision as to whether the combative wide man, who can play on the left or right of midfield, as well as at right full-back or in the centre of the park, will be offered a permanent deal by the seaside. The eager youngster said last week, “There’s quite a good chance of me signing here. I have enjoyed it at Southend and have been impressed by what is here. They play good football and should be higher up the table”.

Meanwhile, Lawrie Dudfield has resumed training after a viral infection. He will now be available for the clash against former club Hull City on Tuesday April 20th after a clause in his contract rules him out of the encounter at his last employer Northampton Town. The Cobblers insisted on the front man sitting out that fixture so that he could not affect their play-off credentials.
