Sturrock: 'His agent came to us asking for another chance with Southend'
The many message boards of the Southend fansite universe has been fueling the odd debate on the third coming of midfielder Lee Sawyer as a Shrimper.
For all his obvious talent and what he can bring to a slightly unimaginative centre of the park for Southend in League Two, has that dodgy temperament really been cured.
Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock, as well as the Roots Hall faithful, will certainly hope so, or young Lee could find himself back in the Conference quicker than Luggy will knock down a dram on Burns Night.
Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "There has never been any question marks over Lee's ability and he knows that he is now drinking in the last chance saloon with us. I saw him play a few times when he was at Chelsea and he stood out for them and did the same for Woking this season."
So how much of a risk does Luggy belive the signing actually is?
Sturrock continued: "He's always had a bad street cred and there were doubts about him off the pitch but his agent came to us asking for another chance with Southend and I've had a very long chat with Lee about things. He knows he has to make the most of this chance and is determined to grab it with both hands."
And S24 believes he will; the journey begins again Friday evening in a corner of south-east Essex with a League Two clash versus Bury.
