Sampson: 'I hope to get some goals under my belt during my time here'

The Shrimpers continued attempt to sign a team of strikers continued with Jack Sampson putting pen to paper for an initial monthe long loan from Premiership Bolton Wanderers, beating of a host of clubs who were after him at the time.

As for the teenager himself, he can't wait to get going for his new side, and taste senior footy for the first time.

Sampson told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I’ve played enough reserve games now to be ready to play in the first team and I’m very happy to have been given that chance by Southend. I had a few different options and a few clubs came in for me but one look at the league table will tell you why I chose to come here.”

So where does Jack believe he will do most damage, possibliy starting with the Cobblers at the Sixfield stadium on Saturday.

Sampson confirmed: “I consider myself as a targetman but I can link the play and bring the wingers in to the game as well. I hope to get some goals under my belt during my time here as well and it’s an excellent opportunity for me to develop and improve my game.”

Sampson continues to remain in the Trotters long term plans and extended his contract at the Reebok Stadium to 2013 on the same day he also signed for the Shrimpers!
