Newly promoted Championship side Peterborough United have admitted they are tracking the Shrimpers talented youngster Kane Ferdinand, although the club have confirmed they have not had an actual offer, which the Posh chairman has confirmed.
The member of the backroom staff who knows him well is Southend Under-18 coach has helped produce several players that have gone on to the first team squad, including the young Irish youth international, through his Dad, and wants to see some serious money as he has signed a first pro two and a half year contract in March of this year.
Duncan told BBC Essex: "If anyone comes in for him now I think they are going to have to come in with a good offer. He's in our first team, he pulls the shirt on for Southend, its been his club since he was 14."
As for the player himself Kane he's missed the Shrimpers pre-season after linking up with the Republic of Ireland youth squad once again for the Under-19 European Championships taking place in Romania from July 20th.
The Republic of Ireland kicked-off their campaign on the opening day with a 2-1 victory against Greece, meaning a win against the Czech Republic on the Saturday will see the boys in green enter the knock-out stages and avoid needing points in their last group game, a tough one against hosts Romania.
