'Nine points is nothing' says Freedman!

Southend have now gone six league games without a win and the lack of successful score-lines is worrying Freedman more than the nine point gap between his side and the play-offs.

Speaking to the Southend Evening Echo Dougie said: "Nine points is nothing at this stage of the season, I'm experienced enough to know that. You just need to stay in and around the top 10 or 12 at this stage and still be within touch around February time. That's when it matters and the main thing for us is to get back to playing well. On Saturday we didn't play to our potential and, being honest, I thought Huddersfield deserved to win. Our next game at Hartlepool is important now and so is the Christmas period. People can go from one end of the table to another during this time and we want to be moving upwards."

As for the missed penalty, which many in the crowd thought Freedman should take, it seems Walker 'fancied it' and that was that! Time for some work on that Tilly after the Clarke miss at Telford as well.

The defeat left Blues 12th in the table and they have now not won in the league since late October so a fit Dougie, who looked sharp when he came on as sub, is vital for the side to return to winning ways.
