New Dates Set For Postponed Fixtures

Last updated : 15 January 2003 By Robert Craven
On New Years Day, Shrimpers supporters were denied a home Third Division match with Oxford after a heavy overnight frost led to the cancellation of the fixture at 10.30 a.m. on the day of the match. After much debate about when the game could be played, and with Oxford having a heavy schedule in the next month, Tuesday 21st January has been set as the new date for the match, kick-off being the usual 7.45 p.m.. This means that the Avon Insurance Combination fixture against Portsmouth Reserves must have a new time.

Meanwhile, travelling Blues fans were left disappointed last Tuesday when their Essex Senior Cup tie against Dagenham & Redbridge was called off by local referee Gary Ives just half-an-hour before the designated kick-off time. However, United followers will be pleased to know that the Quarter-Final has been rearranged for Wednesday 29th January, with kick-off once again 7.45 p.m. This new arrangement has left the home Combination match with Swindon Town Reserves requiring rescheduling, and that joins Portsmouth and Gillingham at Roots Hall to be announced. As usual, we at The Little Gazette will deliver the news as soon as we hear it.
