Mildenhall replaces Reading returning Federici

Only two months, only ten games, yet for me his keeping skills gained us several points, ensuring the win at Yeovil and draws at Scunthorpe and Tranmere.

Two of his saves, one at Yeovil, the other at Tranmere, were as good as any I've seen made at Premiership level, let alone by a Southend keeper.

Then there were the times he left his line to put the opposing forward off his shot by his body seeming to become twice the normal size or his amazing kicking abilty that at times went directly to the feet of Revell or Barnard two thirds down the pitch!

However, it's time to welcome back to league action big Steve Mildenhall, who showed against Telford in the Cup replay, he's not a bad choice to replace the returning Aussie.

Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Blues boss Steve Tilson said: "Adam did fantasticly well for us but Steve will come back in now. Mildy was great against Telford in the cup and I think he's been given a unfair time since he's been here to be honest. He's been given stick by the press which I don't think he deserved and people have reacted to that. He hasn't let me down once this season so I just need him to come back in and carry on playing like he has been doing for us all season when he's been fit."

The Federici Shrimper Files

Played 10: Won 4 Drawn 4 Lost 2; For 18 Against 15; but I can't think of one of those fifteen being a Federici error.
