Sturrock: Played down good fortune

Sturrock: Dagenham (will be tough) because they’re fighting for their lives

While keeping one eye on winning football matches Blues boss Paul Sturrock has to decide who to keep and who to let go as the transfer window reopens for January, Luggy already bringing in striker Elliot Benyon from Swindon who is expected to make his debut against teh Daggers on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon at Roots Hall.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Negotiations are also continuing with Michael Timlin but his loan spell doesn’t expire until after the game with Dagenham so even if a permanent move isn’t sorted this week, he will still be able to play in both matches. Luke Daniels can also play against both AFC Wimbledon and Dagenham and Redbridge but there is then another decision to be made.  He’s done well for the football club and we now need to think about what’s going to happen. There’s plenty to think about and maybe it might make sense to play Glenn Morris this weekend if Luke isn’t going to stay for longer. But Daniel Bentley is injured again at the moment as well so it’s a situation we are going to be mulling over in the next few days."

As Luke did indeed take to the field against the Dons, making one particularly good save with his legs, it's starting to look as if he may be staying for the season, we will see if Glenn returns between the sticks agains Dag & Red or not.

Talking of the team we got the better off in the 3-2 win at the Victoria Road stadium at the end of November, Luggy is not expecting an easy ride after they've picked up six points from the last two home games, including a 2-1 victory over our promotion rivals Gillingham, thanks lads!

Sturrock said:"It’s a busy time as we’re also playing twice in three days and both games will be difficult. Dagenham because they’re fighting for their lives. They have gave us a really good game when we went to their place in the league only a few weeks ago and we’re expecting more of the same on Monday. Dagenham beat Barnet, who had been doing really well, 3-0 on Boxing Day and they also have some good players so we will have to play well to beat them. By then we will also have a few players back from suspension and that means we will be starting the new year with more of our players available. I don’t want us to be hit by as many suspensions in the second half of the season and that’s something I’ve made known to the squad."

Well, Ryan's on 9 now, so watch out for him today, but for our present record: www.football-league.co.uk
