Luggy to debate Mohsni future: 'Too many times Bilel has let us down'

Sturrock: Tough games ahead

Sturrock: 'I feel like I've let everyone down and I apologise to the fans'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock has been a manager for close to two decades and has probably thought he had seen it all, but that was before Bilel Mohsni turned up for a trail at Roots Hall.

Exciting and frustrating, usually within moments of each other, he can be a handful for the opposition and teammates alike!

His second red card of the season Tuesday evening, his third I believe for the club overall, at a freezing cold Boundary Park certainly changed the cup tie that saw the Shrimpers holding their own and having the better of the early exchanges, and it's now the Latics that will head for Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup in January.

Sturrock said: 'Too many times Bilel has let us down. The red card turned the game on its head. I will debate his future with the powers that be. But I blame myself as I pick the team. I feel like I've let everyone down and I apologise to the fans.'

Echoman Chris Phillips tweeted that he had: 'Never seen Paul Sturrock so down as he was at the end of tonight's game.'

For the players left-back Peter Gilbert said: 'I don't really want to talk about the red card but it's fair to say we all feel let down.'

For the Shrimpers, little time to lick their wounds, in three days time struggling Bradford City and ex-head farmer Phil Parkinson, who always likes putting one over the Blues, head to Roots Hall for a  vital League Two clash under the lights, with the news that captain Chris Barker could be out with a calf problem!

There will certainly be no Bilel, a two-match ban is guaranteed, but it could be worse as the FA looks into his case, ten yellows and two reds before Christmas!

And he will not be playing cards with the lads on the way back, Phillips again: 'Ok, Bilel Mohsni is not on the team coach home. Understood to be getting lift home with a director of the club. That's all I know.'

Bet that's a quiet journey!

Then again, this time last year we were talking about half-a-million odd for the French Tunisian from then Premier League Blackpool, what a financial loss to the club if by the new year he's returned to playing on a Parisian park!

You just know as well that someone would pick him up and say they can change him, let's keep him here, better pissing in than out, whether he plays for the first team again is up to Luggy, who has let no one down!

This is where you show your support for a side, they are going to need it Friday.

Yet, as ever, the last word with defender Mark Phillips:'Gutted aint the word.....Devastated still doesnt come close.....'
