Sturrock: Looking on the bright side

Sturrock: 'The result was a real kick in the teeth for us'

Luke Oliver's scrambled goal two minutes fropm time secured a 1-0 victory for the Bantams in League Two, their first-ever triumph at Roots Hall which moved them six points clear of the relegation zone, until Saturday afternoon at least!

Blues boss Paul Sturrock though was determined to not get any negative waves get into his team's dressing room.

Luggy said: "The positive thing is that we are still in the top three going into Christmas and that was the target at the beginning of the season. But the result was a real kick in the teeth for us. Bradford were the better team and we looked quite lethargic. We were not ourselves and perhaps the game on Tuesday took it out of us. We had players jumping off the treatment table, suspension and suffering from flu and we have paid the price. We were below standard and struggled to score any goals and we need to get back to what we were doing and get ourselves back on track. Football is a strange game and confidence is quickly eroded, which is what we are seeing."

Well, from Boxing Day three what were winnable games should see how successful Luggy has been in getting the Shrimpers back strutting their stuff in the fourth tier.
