Leonard: 'A huge disappointment for me to miss Pilgrims clash'

Leonard: 'I could be out for a little while'

He started as cover for Sean Clohessy but got in the side on the right flank of midfield, and along with his long throw offensive weapon, Ryan Leonard stayed there, only injury at first keeping him out of the side.

Having got back in the starting eleven once again he felt his knee going in the 1-1 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge at Roots Hall on January 4th, and that seems to be that for the former Plymouth Argyle youth where first team footy is concerned for a few weeks more at least.

Leonard told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I will carry on working hard with the physio but it’s disappointing that the injury is worse than we first thought. At the start I thought it was just a slight knock and that I would be OK again in a couple of weeks. But after the game I was in a lot of pain and now I could be out for a little while.”

He's not going to guess when he could be back in the squad but certainly not for the visit to his struggling former club on Saturday, Febuary 4th.

Leonard said: “Unfortunately, I think the Plymouth game is going to come too soon for me and that’s obviously a huge disappointment for me. It was a game I wanted to play in but I can’t rush back before I’m ready. That will do even more damage and it has to be 100 per cent right before I play again and hopefully I will be able to do that later this season.”
