Anyway, Timlin has been with the Robins since originally being brought to the club by Luggy on loan from Fulham in November 2006, and in the eight games he played for us while ex-Captain Craig Easton was out injured last season Michael scored one goal, a cracket in a 3-1 win at Hereford United.
Timmers can play against Northampton Town at the weekend, but whether he can turn out against his parent club on Saturday, September 10th we're not sure at the moment.
Anyhow, Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk why he had resigned the player: "Michael did well for us when he came in last season and we’ve brought him back because I just felt we needed another midfielder. He can also play in a few other positions which is a bonus and I’m pleased to have signed him. He’s a good player and did well for Swindon too. He started their first game of the season and had a good game.I saw a recording of the match but the next day I think he had a fall out with the manager and he hasn’t played since. But I’m certain he will do well for us.”
As ever, we shall see, but why did he sign that large extention to his Swindon contract?
Di Canio at Upton Park, September 2010
Well, S24 can reveal the truth, possibily, that like many a Hamster before him, Michael just fancied the new Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio.
Let's be honest, at the mention of his name, Timlin went positively girly.
He said in July: “I was keen anyway, but since meeting him (Di Canio) this morning I’m like a little kid with excitement. I think I can adapt to Paolo and Fabrizio (Piccareta, Di Canio’s assistant manager) really well. It’s down to me to play well but it’s nice to get the opportunity to play under the manager who wants you for who you are.”
Well you did mate, once, (itobviously wasn't that good Luggs), though you've made your girlfriend happy!
Now Michael insists his comments were taken out of context, (well he would say that wouldn't he?), however, from Saturday he wears the blue, or 'cherry voltage', of Southend United, and all at S24 wish him the best of luck back at Roots Hall, just don't get into any trouble with that French Tunisian bloke.
