'It's Southend v Swindon, not Michael Timlin v Swindon': Quotes from the training ground

Timlin: Signed 18-month deal

Timlin: Preparing to face his old club for the first time

It's the big one, Shrimpers v Robins, second v sixth, top of the table the prize if it's a win for the Essex boys, top three at last for the lads from Wiltshire if they leave victorious!

Certainly midfielder Timmo should be up for it, after the midfielder finally signed up permanently for the club from Swindon after being on loan since August, and having not being allowed to play in the two previous meetings, both Blues defeats.

However, he's doing his best to play that significance down.

He told the Echo at the training ground today: 'It's Southend v Swindon, not Michael Timlin v Swindon. It's a massive game and we need to apply ourselves correctly.'

Fair enough, while new signing Pat Baldwin, who should make his debut if Mark Phillips fails his late fitness test on a groin injury, joined by midfielder JP Kalala who is suffering from a hamstring problem.

Baldwin said: 'I'm enjoying it here already and it feels like I've never been away.'

One player has looked off the pace since joining us, and even Blues boss Paul Sturrock accepts former Swindon striker Elliot Benyon has not looked as his sharpest after four successive starts, and the diminutive 'fox in the box' would obviously like to open his account in this particular clash.

Benyon admitted: 'This would be perfect time to get my first Southend goal.'

Indeed it would, expect him be paired with Liam Dickinson once again at the kick-off.

Talking of Luggy, another part of the Shrimpers set-up to face his ex-club, along with son Blair, he's well aware of the significance of the game.

He said: 'There's an edge to this game and it's important but there are only three points to play for.'

But what a three points! Goalless draw then!
