Ipswich want cash upfront for Harding

Harding spent five months on loan with the Blues, making 20 appearances.

However, it now looks unlikely he will return to the club.

Speaking to the Southend Evening Echo Tilly said: "Dan's been recalled by Ipswich now. His contract is up at the end of the season and I think Ipswich will look to get some money in for him during January. I don't think he will be coming to Southend again but we wish him well because he's a great lad and he was excellent for us when he was here."

Looks like there's no money in the bank to sive to the Suffolk based club.

Good news for Johnny Herd but bad news for Shrimpers fans who hoped there may have been another loan period at least for the one consistant player in a fragile defense.

With the confidence of youth 19-year old Herd is ready to take a regular place, focusing first on Saturday's cup-tie against Chelsea.

Herd said: "To play on Saturday would just be amazing and a real dream come true. Some players don't get the chance to ever play against these types of teams so to do it right at the start of my career would be something really special."

Johnny has started all three of Southend's previous matches in the FA Cup this season.
