Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss
Sturrock: 'The last few matches have been far more encouraging though'

Does Uncle Ron know what Luggy is up to?

You've got to give it to the old Scot, whatever the justification for Ron Martin's actions over the summer regarding the legend that is Steve Tilson his replacement Paul Sturrock as Blues boss has been a good appointment, so far!

No, really; he brought in 17 players practically overnight, some good, Chris Barker, some not so, Louie Soares, some promoted early, Kane Ferdinand, some showed true form later, Ryan Hall, some scored 20 goals, Barry Corr, and Bilel Mohsni.

And he's not finished yet, blimey, it's going to be a Luggy revolution!

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I am currently in the process of restructuring the entire football club. I will be coming up with a blueprint of how I want things to be run from top to bottom and will then take that to the powers that be. Ideally, this is something I would have liked to have done much sooner, probably before Christmas. But there was so much work to be done with the playing side of things that I just didn't have the time to also be able to change the club. However, by the time we all report back for pre-season training on July 1, I will have this side of things sorted."

Sturrock is well aware changes have to be made to coaching staff, (Graham Coughlan for assistant boss anyone?), as well as to the first team squad.

He continued: "I will have also restructured my backroom team and have a set system of play and set pieces that we stick to. As well as that I will be changing the squad and will be holding meetings with our out of contract players today. It's not nice to do but the players have put in a real shift for the football club this season and we our reaping the rewards of that now. Unfortunately, it's come too late for us to sneak in to the play-offs and it's frustrating me that we are going to end up a few points shy of the play-offs."

Ahh, those hallowed positions in the top seven, we could be so close Saturday week to one of them but a touch too late, however it's now the Roots Hall faithful, abused and treated like shite at times as we have been over the last eighteen-odd months, have to stick together, fully behind Luggy as he focuses on 2011/12, remember, the future is pink!

Then again, the last couple of weeks havcen't been too bad!

Luggy concluded: "The last few matches have been far more encouraging though and the players have taken on board the cricticism I had of their performances. We're unbeaten in four and have now had three clean sheets in a row. That pleases me because we've worked hard defensively and have certainly improved in that area this season. We want to keep that going in the games we have left and then in to next year as well."

On saying that, who is you're choice as the top Shrimper this season;
