Heads Blues Win: Tilly happy with the points, Revell and Laurent with the goals

Talking to Blues World, available at www.southendunited.co.uk, Tilly said: "It was a tough game for us today. Swindon are obviously not having the best of times and it was always going to be hard out there, but we have come through in the end. It wasn't a fantastic performance and we never got the ball down as much as I would have liked, but it is all about the results."

Tilly went on to speak about the goalscorers, Laurent after only four minutes on as a sub with his first touch of the ball: "It was a fantastic cross from Kevin Betsy and a great finish from Revs to give us the lead. Hopefully, that will be one of many. We sat back after that though when we should have got more goals. We let Swindon back in the match and made life difficult for ourselves. We had chances in the second half and if we showed more composure and if our final ball was better, we would have scored more. It was a fantastic goal from Francis. It was a decent ball in from Peter Clarke and it's a great header. No goalkeeper is going to save that and it is a goal worthy of winning any game."

Alex Revell spoke after of his relief of scoring his first goal in front of the home crowd: "I have been waiting a long time for my first Roots Hall goal for a long time and it was a great feeling to see it go in. All of my family were here, so to do it today means a lot. The fans have been really patient with me and I appreciate that as I know I didn't do it when I first came here. I will openly admit that, so hopefully I can push on from here." And so say all of us.

A slight injury forced Revell off for the other goal scorer Laurent but insists he will be fit for Tuesday's tough match at Scunthorpe.

The Frenchman himself said nothing in English because he can't speak a word, what he thought about the ref when he gave him a daft yellow card we can only imagine, but through interpreter Medi Abalimba he said: "It is the objective of every player to get in the starting line-up. I am settled here and I am thankful that the manager has put a lot of confidence and faith in me to enable me to play as well as I have done. To score my first goal for Southend makes me very happy and it has won the game for the team. I saw the player who was marking me so I tried to get on the other side of him fortunately I was able to get through and score."

So on to North East Lincolnshire and the toughest test of the season for Southend so far, last word with Tills as we try and make it seven unbeaten: "We now have to get ready for Tuesday night against Scunthorpe. It is going to be a tough task up there, especially as they are top of the league."

As a man who uses the word 'objective' in a sentence, I should say 'objectif', maybe Tilly should get Laurent to make his after match statements!
