Great news this morning as Ipswich full back Dan Harding look set to join the Blues today as Uncle Ron predicted.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton said: "It is important for these lads, (Harding and striker Billy Clarke, off to Darlington for a month which could upset Foran), to be out playing regular football. This is the right time for them to go and it will be a good opportunity for both."

On the injury front all three of the forwards that had concerns, Damien Scannell, James Walker and Lee Barnard, were declared fit for Saturday's league opener with Peterborough United.

Southend: (from) Mildenhall, Francis, Clarke, Barrett, Sankofa, Scannell, Bailey, Moussa, Walker, Barnard, Furlong, Revell, Grant, Joyce, Herd, O'Keefe.

New signing Kevin Betsy was not in the first squad announced from the Hall but along with Harding, if the deal goes ahead, would be expected to be involved in some form.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Steve Tilson, boosted by 24 hours of positive news, as we all are, aims for nothing less than a top six finish.

He is also aware that the team must be at their best to trouble a financially well backed Peterborough side also looking to challenge for promotion in what will be a very competitive League One.

Speaking to Blues World Tilly said "We only have a small squad but we're looking to emulate what we did last term. We have a great spirit and if we can get into the play-offs then we will have done excellently."
