Hall: 'I think (second goal) should be given to me as well but we will wait and see what happens'
Well, take a look at the highlights below but it's doubtful that Shrimpers wideboy Ryan Hall will win his case that the second goal in the 4-1 hammering of the Dons Saturday was his!
Hall told www.echo-news.co.uk: “I took a touch on the ball but then it ricocheted off their defender and back on to me so I'm definitely claiming it. I think it should be given to me as well but we will have to wait and see what happens.”
Oh well, but the equaliser was certainly his and kept him at the top of the Southend scoring chart having moved in to double figures with ten goals.
And he also shut up the home supporters who were booing him all through the game.
It seems Ryan scored against the Dons for Bromley back in April 2009 when he lobbed the ball from the touchline and over the Wimbledon keeper's head into the net to make it 2-2 in the 90th minute when the ball had been kicked out on purpose due to a player injury. (See it on you tube below.)
Hall explained: “It was all a bit of a misunderstanding at the time but that's why I was getting stick. The goal I scored got us a draw that day and it was nice to come back and get another good result.”
Oh well, forgive and forget I say.
Anyway, Hall picked up the S24 m-o-m award with a real return to form, though the crap defending of AFC Wimbledon certainly helped.
He said: “The manager just told me to play off Chopper and to keep getting in the box which I did. I was able to get on the ball more and get turned at defenders to get more shots in. I'd be happy to play there again but the main thing was getting the win so we're all delighted. Playing against 10 men can sometimes be like playing against 12 because they seem to work harder but we coped well.”
We did indeed; let's continue the Happy New Year with three points against the Daggers Monday!
