Anthony Grant: Joins the 100 club
With the exodus of Shrimpers now finished midfielder Anthony Grant has ended up the club's longest serving player on 99 games.
He could get his ton tonight in the JPT first round match against League One rivals Gillingham, and heaven forbid Luggy if he decides to give the former Chelsea youngster a rest, Snoop Dog is up for it!
Granty told www.echo-news.co.uk: "Every game is important, no matter what the competition and we want to build a winning mentality. We were delighted to win at Bradford and now we want to get another victory, which would obviously be the best way to mark my 100th game for Southend."
In fact Anthony has looked a better player now he's been released from the shackles of Macca next to him, taking on players like a top wideman at times while keeping that competitive instinct, a yellow card is never far away from some Snoopy challenges!
An added bonus for Granty in that first league win of the season at Bradford was a goal, a wonderful strike from outside the area, and his first for a while.
Anthony continued: "It felt good to hit the back of the net again. The last time was at Crewe ages ago now, so hopefully I can push on and get a few more goals to help us get more good results." ![]()
Just a reminder that while the South Stand will remain closed for the game, the West Stand will join the East Stand as designated for home supporters, and the North for the Gills fans making there way from Kent, or maybe the odd one down from London after work.
