Graham Coughlan; at last he's put pen to paper, for two more years!
The jigsaw continues to be put together.
The veteran defender Graham Coughlan turned out 35 times at centre-back last season as well as helping out Blues boss Paul Sturrock on the coaching front with the first team and actually being in charge of the reserves.
Not a bad work load, so in these tough times in south-east Essex it's not surprising that the club want him to stay as his present contract came to an end at the end of last season, and after a few weeks of speculation, and the player himself confirming he wasn't looking for a move, the former Shrewsbury skipper has signed on the dotted line for a further two years at Roots Hall taking him to the grand old age of 38!
Eat your heart out Sodje, while that Harris is a mere boy.
Blues boss Paul Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I'm pleased that Graham will be here once again next season. I think he will be the first to admit that at 36 he played more times last season than perhaps he was expecting. But he was still putting in consistant performances and his experience is invaluable to those younger players around him. The squad respects him and his assistance on the training ground in the second half of last season was first class."
Great news on top of a positive few days for the Shrimper faithful, let's keep it going!
