The Shrimpers League Two clash with Gillingham at the Prestfield Stadium will be shown live on Sky Sports.

This is the first time that the league leading Southend, and let's hope if we're not actually in that position when we face the Gills we're pretty close, has been chosen for a live broadcast this campaign.

And with the Kent based side are in decent form themselves and it should be quite a night, as well as earning the club around 30k.

The last time we played the Gills was back in September when an 87th minute Phillips header saw us win 1-0 with only 10 men, Bilel having seen red, a result that kick-started our 16-match unbeaten run that took the team to the top.

However, it has meant that the game will be moved forward 24 hours to Monday, February 13th; kick-off 19.45.

So for all you romantics out there, you will just have to take the missus out for a meal after all.

Even so, this Gillingham fansite, www.gillsconnect.com, is pissed off with the whole thing, seems we play on the Friday, February 11th at home to Rotherham United, and they have a game on the traditional Saturday away to Burton Albion.

The mileage and us being able to put our feet up for a further 24 hours has already won the Shrimpers the game it seems, in front of millions they say as well.

Not sure about that, on all fronts; still, get your excuses in early I always say.
