Fullarton Leaves Shrimpers

Fullarton never really had a chance to impress
The 29–year-old only managed to make seven starts for the Seasiders, but he had endeared himself to the Roots Hall faithful with a number of tough-tackling displays which stamped his authority on the game. A measure of the esteem in which he is held in the Football League is the fact that promotion-chasing Oxford United also sought his signature in July 2003 when Steve Wignall brought him to the southeast Essex coastline.

However, the Scottish Under-21 record cap holder failed to hold down a spot in Blues’ team as he moved from one injury to the next. He started the campaign with a wrist fracture, also knocking his elbow and forearm at the season’s outset. During his stint with United he also suffered from hamstring and groin injuries, the latter keeping him out of action since early October.

Fullarton was expected to play against his former club Brentford tonight in the Pontin’s Holidays Combination, but instead he will be searching for new employment. We at TLG thank Jamie for his efforts whilst at Southend United and wish him all the best for the future.
