Freddy Eastwood has set his sights on showing Wolves what they missed by being Coventry's top scorer next season.

The Daily Express reminds us of Freddie's greatest moment in a Blue shirt, not a Sky Blue one, yet.

Eastwood finally ended the long saga on his future when he signed a four-year contract for the Sky Blues at the weekend in a £1.2m deal rising to £1.5m. Coventry say the former Southend striker has waived a settlement on his Wolves contract.

The former Blues striker scored four goals in 12 starts plus a further 23 appearances off the bench in his one season at Molineux. But he aims to better that at the Ricoh Arena.

"My aim is to end the season as the club's top goalscorer - I've scored goals elsewhere and that's exactly what I want to do here at Coventry," said Freddie.

"The move has been talked about for quite a while so I'm just delighted it's finally going through. My agent kept me informed of what was going on in March and it was so disappointing that it didn't happen then, so I am really pleased now."

"I was looking out for Coventry's results at the end of last season because I knew there was a good chance that they would be coming back in for me, so it was a huge relief they stayed in the Championship. I know the manager is now looking to build things back up again here and, he was a big factor in me joining the club. I've spoken to a lot of people in the game about him and everybody says he is a brilliant manager and nobody has a bad word to say."

"I've started my pre-season with Wolves and that's gone well so far and now I can't wait to keep up that good work here. The Ricoh Arena is a great place to play your football - it is one of the best in the Championship so I'm looking forward to getting out there."

Coventry hate figure Craig Bellamy recommended the club to Freddie, the goal-hungry striker has revealed.  Eastwood, eligible to play for Wales through his grandmother, has been in contact with the former Sky Blue winger and fellow international as to his thoughts on the move.  And, despite Bellamy's much publicised criticisms of Coventry when he left, the new signing says the diminutive bad boy was influential in his signing.

Eastwood said yesterday: ""I've spoken to Bellers and everything he said about the club and the gaffer was positive."

He also admitted joining a club where Chris Coleman was in charge was a major factor in him coming to City.  The former Wolves player is convinced that he can fire Coventry City into the Championship elite.  The Welsh striker aims to become a Sky Blues legend by netting the goals that make Chris Coleman's men a force to be reckoned with following several seasons in the doldrums.

"I'm glad it's all gone through and I can concentrate on getting sharp and fit for the new season," said Eastwood yesterday.

"When I played in the Championship for Southend I scored 16 times and I want to beat that record for Coventry this coming season.   I've got goals at all levels I've played so I've got confidence in my own ability.  I helped Southend to successive promotions before they were relegated from the Championship but my record for them speaks for itself.  I know if I play I will score goals on a regular basis!"

Eastwood admits his time at Molineux was not what he expected although he felt his performances merited more opportunities to make his presence felt in Mick McCarthy's line-up.  "It was just disappointing. I didn't get the chances I expected but I've now moved on to another massive club, so I cannot complain as I may not have had this opportunity had I not gone to Wolves.  But that's history now and I've moved on to hopefully bigger and better things." (Blimey, that's a lot of words for Fred!)

Eastwood bagged 16 goals in 49 appearances during Southend's Division Two promotion surge back in 2005 and then followed up by scoring 25 in 43 outings as The Shrimpers powered into the Championship.  The hot-shot went on to find the rigging 11 more times in the 2006-2007 campaign before his move to Wolves last summer for £1.5m turned into an exasperating nine months for the Essex-born front-runner.

Freddie is set to fly out for Coventry's pre-season tour of Switzerland on Monday and we wish him all the luck as he gets a second chance to prove to sceptics that he can score goals on a regular basis in the second tier.

Personally I have no doubt he will, Colemans a good young manager, like a certain Mr. Tilson, who will allow him the freedom on the pitch he needs, I'm also certain I will see see Freddie scoring in the Premiership sooner rather than later.
