Francis: 'It really is best to take it one game at a time'

Speaking to Blues Inside the Shrimpers defender said: "We picked up a great run of form into the New Year last season and it boosted us right up outside the play-offs. That would be great for us again, but no-one is saying that we should be fighting for the top two, because I don't think we have the squad and we obviously haven't picked up the results to be up there. It's about keeping our players fit and healthy and managing to keep a good team on the pitch."

Simon, having turned down a 150k move to Championship side Peterborough last week, appreciates that to do anything like a repeat of the last two seasons, consistancy in team selection is paramount.

He concluded: "It's about keeping our players fit and healthy and managing to keep a good team on the pitch. We don't want to have to change the team too much due to injuries and bringing in loan players, because that can affect you and I think it did at the start of the season. If we can pick up a few good results, then we might be able to get a good run going."
