Five years after Freddy Big Baz makes top twenty!

Corr: Hero for home side
Corr: 'That's the target the manager and I set myself'

With all the articles lost in the great S24 crash over Easter was one we wanted to post and place on record, that Shrimpers striker Barry Corr scored his 20th goal of the 2010/11 term when he headed home the winner against the Boro Good Friday with fourteen minutes remaining.

Corr told www.echo-news.co.uk at the time: "It was great to get to 20 goals because that's the target the manager and I set myself at the start of the season. It was even better that it won us the game but I hope it's not the last I get this season."

So the ghost of legendary goal scorer Freddy Eastwood is alid to rest after five years, something even the good Lord Lee Barnard couldn't do, though to be fair if we hadn't ahve sold Barney to Southampton in January 2010 when he was on 17 the odds are he would have done, and probably kept us in the third tier!

Corr continued: "It was a proper victory for us against a team who hadn't lost in eight games and are very much in the race for promotion. I think we would have a lost a game like that at the start of the season and by now winning it I think it's showed how much we've progressed."

Quite true, a win or two more, that Stockport away result recently certainly hurt, and who knows then what might have been.

Even our own editor EEB who made his infamous, 'he will not get you 20 goals this season' back on August has been forced to eat himble pie, and he wasn't the only one, and be the first to send him congratulations on a great effort.

Anyway, after the goalless bore draw at Macclesfield, onwards to Burton for the final home game on Saturday, and real hope for next time around, as long as we keep the jewels, and Barry has become one of them.

Obviously Big Baz will be the subject of transfer rumours, League One Tranmere Rovers we believe has some substance to it, but let's hope nothing happens over the summer, as a good pre-season and a couple of decent additions, more depending on who leaves, and that season card might be worth renewing, even for an extra fifty quid!
