Ex-Captain Craig: now looking for a new club
Former Shrimpers skipper Craig Easton is now an ex-player as well after failing to agree terms on a new contract and has told BBC Essex that he has left the club.
Earlier it was announced at the first day of pre-season training Chris Barker will replace him as captain, with new signing Neil Harris serving as his deputy on the pitch.
Midfielder Easton, who also played under Blues boss and fellow Scot Paul Sturrock at Swindon, arrived at Roots Hall a year ago during our summer of discontent, helping Luggy get a decent side together from scratch that ended up 13th in last season's League Two.
He made 38 appearances for the Shrimpers, scoring five goals, including a cracking last minute winner against Wycombe Wanderers that raised the roof at the time.
After earlier speculation will another ex-Shrimper in new Torquay United manager Martin Ling make a move for the now out of work Easton?
Best of luck Craig from everyone at S24.
