Dudfield To Go West?

Could Lawrie Dudfield make a surprise move to Huish Park?
The Bristol-based newspaper, which covers Third Division Yeovil, report that the Glovers have agreed a deal with Northampton Town to take the 23-year-old to Huish Park almost under the noses of the Seasiders. The West Country outfit have agreed a fee and personal terms with Dudfield, who is expected to sign this afternoon in readsiness for their tie with local rivals Bristol Rovers.

Some telling statements have also emerged from the local media outlet. Manager Gary Johnson revelaed that, “I’ve known Lawrie since he was 17 and I had him at
Kettering. I gave him his first opportunity there as a young lad and then he had a couple of big moves.”

Dudfield’s agent, Richard Cody, who Ron Martin formally approached yesterday to arrange a transfer with the Cobblers, was able to reveal that his dealings with Johnson have gone well, “I have been highly impressed with what I’ve seen at Yeovil and in particular Gary Johnson. I’ve been happy with the way negotiations have gone and would love Lawrie to go there”.

Whether the Londoner will choose Town over United is yet to be revealed, but it would almost certainly anger new Shrimpers chief Steve Tilson, who was reportedly angry at how Northampton have dealt with the matter from the start of the week. Dudfield had been expected to link up with Blues again, for whom he scored four goals in seven matches, after the appointment of managerment duo Tilson and Paul Brush.
