Devasted Macca on missing Chelsea; Disappointed Barrett on missing Crewe!

It was the birthday blues for midfielder Macca as his side's clash with Crewe was called off on Saturday.

McCormack, who turned 25 at the weekend, had been set to miss the match against the Railwaymen through a one-game ban and with the League One fixture falling victim to the weather, Macca will now have to sit out Wednesday's mouth-watering FA Cup replay with Chelsea.

The Dublin born player misses the third round tie against the Premier League high-flyers after being cautioned five times. His last yellow card was shown for a foul on Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Speaking to the Southend Evening Echo Macca said: "I'm just absolutely devastated. I just kept on praying and praying that it was going to be played but this cold weather just hasn't done anyone any favours at all. Wednesday is just going to be an amazing night. It's a huge evening game at Roots Hall and even though there will be less people than at Stamford Bridge I actually think the atmosphere will be better. I know how much noise our fans make and I'm just gutted I'm going to be watching from the stands. We have quality players waiting to come in and they can do a good job in the midfield as well. Hopefully the boys can get another shock result and get through to the next round against Ipswich."

Meanwhile Captain Adam is looking for as many positives as possible from the postponed match.

Also speaking to the Echo the Blues skipper said: "First and foremost it's frustrating that the game is off because we wanted to play. It would have been a huge game for us and we were looking to build on the draw at Chelsea but maybe it isn't all bad news. The Chelsea game has been looming in the background and now we can concentrate on that and get it out of the way before returning to the league. This way there can be no distractions but it was strange having a Saturday without football! It's the first home game I've had called off in the five years I've been here and I didn't really know what to do."
