Clohessy: New deal
Sean Clohessy; will remain a Shrimper until 2013

Shrimpers right-back Sean Clohessy extended his contract Wednesday by another 12 months even though he still had a year left to run on his current deal at Roots Hall.

And he's a happy defender having sorted it all out this early.

Clohessy told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It's great to have got the contract signed. Talks have been going on about the deal from Christmas time with the gaffer and chief exec, so it's pleasing to have got everything sorted and to know that I will be staying here for longer because I really do love being part of this club.

Sean certainly expects to see his side pushing for promotion out of the bottom tier of League football next time around.

Clohessy continued: "Last season we were a new side and ended up 13th which was still successful, but we will do better next year and have to be aiming for promotion. We know each other inside out now, we know how people like to play and that's a huge help. It will make a big difference and we weren't too far away from the top seven last season either. Our home form at the start wasn't the best and neither was our away form at the end and that cost us, but next year we have to be going for automatic promotion."

And so say all of us!

Sturrock happy that Sean is staying a Shrimper:
