Sean Clohessy; will remain a Shrimper until 2013
Shrimpers right back Sean Clohessy still had a year remaining on his current deal but has convinced Blues boss Paul Sturrock that he deserves another 12 months and will now stay an Essex boy until the summer of 2013 at least.
His forays up the wing has helped create a number of chances for the United attack over the last season and though his defensive skills may be questioned at times Sean has done enough to convince Luggy of his worth, and escaping injury for the whole campaign probably helped as well!
Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk: "Sean played in every game for us last season and put in consistent performances. I felt his form was deserving of a longer deal and I am pleased to say that we have managed to secure another asset. We are trying to build something here and that is why it was important the likes of Ryan Hall, Lee Sawyer and Kane Ferdinand were sorted before the end of the season. Along with Luke (Prosser) and Glenn (Morris) this week we have done some good business in getting our existing squad signed up nice and early."
Still, some additions will be needed to convince the faithful that promotion is an achievable aim next season, but for now, as Luggy says, a job well done.
