Shrimpers were alarmed on Friday night when they saw Captain Adam fall to the ground clutching his ankle but relieved when they saw him eventually carry on.

But it will be no surprise to hear that he had a precautionary scan yesterday to see if there was any serious damage.

It seems the answer is no and he's confident of playing at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon.

Talking to www.southendunited.co.uk Adam said: "I was in a lot of pain after I landed awkwardly on my ankle and at first I was quite worried about it. The ankle was really swollen over the weekend too but it's feeling much better now. It's feeling strong and stable and I don't think my injury is too serious at all. You can normally tell with these things but I'm hoping to be training by Thursday and I would be very surprised if I'm not fit agian at the weekend."

Captain Adam will hope to maintain his 100% record for the Blues this season along with his defensive partner Clarke.

As for top scorer Dougie Freedman Tilly commented: "Dougie has torn a couple of fibres in his thigh. It's nothing major but it's too early to tell if he's going to be OK for Saturday.

The loss of one or both of these influential players would be a major blow to management and supporters alike as we plan for the long trip down to Yeovil.

Let's hope we see Captain Adam and Dougie warming up with the rest of the lads around two thirty this coming Saturday.
