Bury Match In Doubt
Last updated : 30 January 2004 By Robert Craven
The game at the Greater Manchester club’s Gigg Lane ground is in doubt after the heavy snowfall that has swept across Britain from the north of Scotland in the last couple of days. The eastern coast has been the worst hit, but it would appear from the picture above, which comes from the official Bury Football Club website (www.buryfc.co.uk) that the northwest has also copped its fair share of the white stuff.
Shakers officials were due to conduct a pitch inspection just prior to midday tomorrow, when the Seasiders team bus leaves Roots Hall for an overnight stay in Lancashire. However, the Football League have now advised that the surface should be given every chance to thaw out, and that means that Bury will not make a final decision until Saturday morning. However, should conditions worsen, an eventuality that is not anticipated, then the fixture could still be called off 24 hours previously.
The result of any inspection, of course, will be available here on The Little Gazette as soon as we know it, providing that co-editors Mark Wallis and Robert Craven have not left for the Shrimpers Trust coach, which leaves ASDA in North Shoebury at 7:30 a.m. Any rearranged date can also be found here as and when we here about it should that be required.
