Brown: Taking strain

Brown: 'We are giving teams two-goal starts nearly every week'

The Dons have failed to win any of their previous 10 games in League Two, suffering four straight defeats, similar to Southend who have gone six matches since last picking up three points.

Terry Brown's side have not won a league game at Kingsmeadow since October 1st and the Wimbledon boss is conscious of the crowd turning against them.

He told Your Local Guardian: "We need to win a game at home. As patient as the crowd can be - and as good as they are - they are going to start having a right tear up if we don't improve. We are giving teams two-goal starts nearly every week and we have got a major problem scoring goals but what you have to be careful of as a manager is you don't start change everything."

And Brown has admitted his side are desperately short of firepower after losing 2-0 to Oxford in League Two on Boxing Day. At least they finished the game!

The Us ran out comfortable winners in south west London with first-half goals from James Constable, his ninth of the season, with Asa Hall's header sealing the victory. The defeat was the Dons' fifth on the spin and they remain without a league win since October 8th.

Brown was encouraged by a vastly improved performance from his side after the break, saying: "We are giving teams a two-goal headstart nearly every week and we've got a major problem with scoring goals at the moment. It's easy to say we were much better in the second half but I picked the team in the first half as well, so I felt we didn't have enough belief in the first half and our shape didn't work."

So any changes for his starting eleven against the Shrimpers?

Brown continued:"I've got two things going on in my mind at the moment, to get some points against Southend and Swindon which won't be easy, and I've got to try to get someone in during the window which will help our lads. They give everything, but lack confidence and belief. What you have to be careful about as a manager is that you don't start changing everything, but we have to score some goals, and however I dress this up we are a couple of forwards short."

It's going to be close, but we're going for a Southend win; 2-0!
