Blues fax machine on overload

Hal Robson-Kanu, who can also play as a central striker as well as his preferred position on the wing, has joined Southend on loan until the end of the season from Premiership side Reading.

He was born on February 19 1981 and though to make his first team debut has made the subs bench for the cup match v Spurs. Hal is also an England Under-19 international.

Making it through the Reading FC Academy, who seem to be boosting the squads of several League One sides at the moment, he has suffered two long term injuries, not his ankles I hope, but bounced back to show great courage and professionalism. He had his first involvement with the first team when he travelled with the squad for the Pearce Cup in South Korea in the summer of 2007 and started against the famous River Plate.

Obviously liking the sea air Alex Ravell, born July 7 1983, has signed a two and a half year contract from Brighton for #150,000.

Revell is a graduate of the Cambridge United youth set-up, where he struggled to establish himself during his stint at the Abbey Stadium. Discovering his first team opportunities at Cambridge were limited, Revell spent a loan spell at Conference North club Kettering Town. Soon afterwards he left the club in 2004 where he made the decision to drop out of the Football League by joining Braintree Town.

During his time at Braintree, Revell managed to find the net 35 times for the club, where he managed to help them gain promotion to the Conference South during the 2005/06 season. Revell was signed by Brighton from Braintree for £8000 during the close season of 2005-06. He very quickly became a popular figure with the fans thanks to his strong work ethic and whole hearted displays, scoring 11 times in 43 league games. On 1 January 2008, Revell scored his first professional hat-trick as Brighton defeated Bournemouth 3-2 at the Withdean.

During the January transfer window of 2007, Revell was strongly tipped for a move to Championship side Coventry City, after he attracted interest from former Brighton manager Micky Adams, but nothing came of it. However, Tilly had been a long admirer of Revell and tried to sign him in the August 2007 transfer window. Revell will be wearing the number 11 shirt for Southend.

Finally, the owner of the best left foot in League One is not going back to Motherwell. The club has turned down an offer for Steve Hammell seeing his future on the south-east coast. After his free-kick against Leeds I think Shrimpers everywhere will be happy to hear that.
