Sturrock: New Shrimpers boss

Sturrock: 'Bilel has a zest for the game which is infectious'

The Shrimpers scoring sensation Bilel Mohsni looks as if he'll stay as a striker for the trip to Barnet at the weekend, and Blues boss Paul Sturrock is not surprised, Luggy has done it all before, with Stoke City Premiership forward Kenwyne Jones when he was manager at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "When I was at Sheffield Wednesday I signed Kenwyne Jones as a defender but decided to put him up front and he responded by getting seven goals in seven games. He never looked back after that and has gone on to play as a striker for Stoke and Sunderland so of course it would be great if Bilel could do anywhere near as well as him."

There's no arguing with the present success of the startegy so another game is worth a go, however, to expect the same consistancy from a player who was knocking a ball about in the French suburbs before the summer could be a concern in the long run.

Sturrock explained: "It's a tough ask and we will need to see how he gets on once the adrenaline has gone a bit but for now I have no problems putting Bilel in attack because he just has a zest for the game which is infectious. I think the fans appreciate that too but his enthusiasm got him in trouble last time we went to Barnet so I have had to have words with him about that."

So unless it's a mega con that's where Mohsni will probably start at Underhill on Saturday in front of what will be a large Shrimpers following as the side try and continue their charge up the table and in to the play-off zone.

Bilel himself will not have the greatest memories of the North London outpost after seeing red during the 3-1 victory over Barnet in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last October.

Sturrock though expects a far tougher test this time around.

He explained: "It worries me that everyone connected with the club might think that we just have to turn up on Saturday, run around for 90 minutes and that three points will be ours because it's certainly not going to be like that. Barnet haven't lost in four games, they have a new manager and they are a dangerous animal at the moment because they are fighting for their lives. I've told my players that and I hope the fans also realise that Barnet are going to be a very tough nut to crack."
