Corr: On the scoresheet

Corr: 'I'm making sure I look after myself with honey, lemon and all that rubbish'

Shrimpers top scorer Barry Corr felt like death warmed up before the Oxford United game at the weekend due to a heavy dose of flu, but still scored his ninth goal of the season in the 2-0 win, the Shrimpers second away win in a row.

Corr told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I've been quite unwell all week and to be honest I felt like I was dying in the warm up at Oxford but once the game got going it was fine and I'm sure it will be the same today. I haven't been able to train much because of being ill and I also went back to Ireland as one of my best mates got married so it's been an eventful week. However, scoring a goal certainly made me feel much better and hopefully I can get another one today to take me to double figures for the season."

And though the former Exeter man, who is grabbing attention from club scouts in League One, has still not fully recovered there's no way he wants to miss out on the chance of helping his side making it a hat-trick of victories this afternoon against Cheltenham Town, but this time in front of the faithful at Roots Hall and move closer to that play-off zone where they lay four points off the pace at the moment in 12th position.

Corr continued: "We've had a few of our home games called off so it will be nice to get the one on today. Cheltenham are a good team though so this will be another hard game but I'm making sure I look after myself with honey, lemon and all that rubbish so I'm sure I'll be OK to play again. Hopefully we can get another good result as well because the last two games have been really encouraging."
