Grant: Late equaliser for Southend

Granty; off for a scan, not a Championship club, yet!

Shrimpers player-of-the-year so far, the former Chelsea youth Anthony Grant, injured his knee in training earlier in the week and will be going for a scan to reveal the extent of the damage.

Rumours were spreading at the Kassam Stadium Saturday that he had been withdrawn from the squad due to a bid being made by an unamed Championship club, both Reading and Bristol City hinted at some interest earlier in the season, but it seems the Blues faithful can relax, for now. (Though Barry Corr and Bilel Mohsni have both had scouts in the stands taking a peek.)

Of course, Anthony could be out for a while, which would still be pretty bad, but if it takes him off the radar in the short term and keeps him at Roots Hall until May, all the better for the midfielder who showed such loyalty to the club when nearly everyone else was jumping ship.

Good luck to Snoop Dog when he goes for his x-ray, and bugger off any clubs after his signature, for a few months anyway, this season could be starting to turn into something special after all, and no one was saying that a few weeks ago.
