Alassane N'Diaye set to return to Crystal Palace: 'Hope he manages to go somewhere & get games'

N'Diaye: Southend switch

Alassane N'Diaye: Could be the shortest season long loan on record

The rather over-hyped story by Echoman Chris Phillips suddenly turned the Shrimpers squad into a bunch of aggressive nutters overnight, something that Southend vice-captain Neil Harris would like to dispel, and he had a good go in the very same local paper.

Bilel Mohsni and his runaway temper is discussed elsewhere, but the news that midfielder Alassane D'Aiaye was involved in a spat with Jamel Johnson in training was arguably the best bit, especially the news that the player, who had looked so hapless in the team's pre-season games that he took part in, and had only been seen in any form sitting in the stand at Roots Hall since the League Two season started, was on his way back to parent club Championship Crystal Palace after less than two months into a season long loan.

News that won't please Eagles boss, our former striker Dougie Freedman, who had hoped he'd saved D'Aiaye's wages until May at least.

And after all that wait to hear he'd signed, remember the 48 hours!

While Blues boss Paul Sturrock would surely be pleased that he's found a way out of a deal that would have kept such a poor performer at the club for a whole season, and in J P Kalala have made a far more promising signing turning out in a position that the young Frenchman was pencilled in for.

However, Luggy would only say he was in discussions with the Frenchman, telling BBC Essex: "I'm in discussions with Alassane about his situation at this football club", which is fair enough, but Harris in his weekly Echo column has given us an update on the N'Diaye mystery.

Harris told www.echo-news.co.uk: "There have been a few other issues and it does seem like Alassane N’Diaye, or big Dave as we call him, will be heading back to Crystal Palace which is a shame because his loan spell here hasn’t really worked out the way everyone hoped it would. I’m not too sure what’s happening with his future at the moment, but he’s a really nice guy and I hope he manages to go somewhere else and get games because it’s what he needs most."

Phillips has confirmed N'Diaye was seen at the Blues training ground Thursday morning but could not say whether it was actually working out with the squad or for talks with the boss, the latter looks the more likely!

If it proves to be the case that 'Big Dave' is off, S24 hopes he has better luck in the future than he found in south-east Essex.
