Not usually one to keep quiet ex-Shrimpers striker Scott Spencer has been wisely keeping his council since being released by former Southend manager Steve Tilson at relegated Lincoln City along with another former Blue in fellow forward Drew Broughton.
After tweeting his transfer to the Imps during the last January transfer window Screech made the following interesting statement, with a few kind words about present Blues boss Paul Sturrock.
The former Everton youth said: "I know he has been in football for 30 or 40 years and that I have been in it for only a few weeks so my opinions may not mean as much, but I think he's an idiot. I don't think he should be involved in football any more and it was just shocking I wasn't even making squads. It wasn't as if the team were flying and scoring four goals every week because I could've accepted it then but he wouldn't let me even play in the reserves which I found very petty indeed."
Not wise, weeks then before a game where emotions were running high enough as it was.
To his credit Luggy kept his cool, while still making it clear how he felt about the player.
Sturrock said: "I wish Scott all the best in his footballing career. I hope he reaches the heights he feels he should achieve."
That should be Southend Manor then, if he's lucky.
Now, the majority of the faithful felt that Screech had been treated poorly but this confirmed he was not the sharpest in the tool box, and no love was going to be lost when March 12 eventually came around.
Then with a couple of minutes left he had the chance to rub our faces in it, on as a late sub, a clear site of goal, bang, over the bar from about five yards. Even in defeat it made us laugh.
Still, the Sincil support felt they may have something of a coup, their messiah Tilly was taking them to the play-offs, and Scotty was going to smack them in.
As we know now it wasn't to be, for both club and player, as a local derby with Grimsby awaits next time around for Lincoln.
But for Screech, who knows, who cares?
Nathan Jackson of www.thefootballnetwork.net/main/lincoln-city/s261.htm: "I got quite annoyed we appeared to be wasting money on a striker that Tilson seemingly had no intention of playing, but then when he did get a decent run, you sort of saw why he wasn't being played. He rarely touched the ball and at times seemed afraid to get stuck in, often backing out of challenges."
Oh dear.
Then again this is from a bloke who had us relegated back at the start of the season, the irony.
He concluded: "He wasn't getting that many shots in either and the ones he was, weren't really likely to go in and to be honest, based on his dispalys so far, it appears to be a poor bit of business from Tilson. His contract expired at the end of the season and Tilson decided to let him go, hardly a surprise given that he managed two shots in ten games."
'Nuff said.
As for Drewy, we'll always have that goal, but the lower reaches of the Conference seems the best for him now, blimey even Wimbledon put him on the subs bench in the end while he was there on loan.
Good luck to them both, but learn from this Screech, and please shut the fuck up if our paths ever cross again.
Spencer Scott; as far as we know not related to Screech, he's just one big tit
