Longpier Live - Q & A

longpier.com is proud to announce its latest initiative, giving Southend United fans a chance to have their say straight after the game against Brighton.

It starts at 10.30pm Friday night, giving fans enough time to get home and log-on.

Here's a guide:

What is Longpier Live?
Good question. It's is a brand new place to bring together Southend United fans from across the world...all in one place...and all for free.

OK, but why?
You know the feeling. You've just seen a very good or very bad performance from the Blues. You've had time to digest what you've seen, but there's nowhere to verbally congratulate the team/vent your spleen. Messageboards are great, but there's no substitute for an audio show like - for instance - '606' on Five Live.

Problem is I can't get through when I call '606'...
Exactly! There are thousands of callers (most of them Premier League "fans) who are all battling to have their 30 seconds of fame on the radio. How many Southend fans do you hear on there per season? 4 or 5? It's so frustrating. So longpier decided to launch it's own version, especially for Southend fans.

Hmmm. How much does it cost?
Absolutely zilch. Nothing. Gratis. Free. All you need is a PC or Mac, the latest version of Skype (free, again) and the ability to type/speak/appear on cam!

There must be a catch?!
Nope. I just wanted to create a place for Blues' fans to be able to interact with one another via voice, webcam or text. The show is available for sponsorship and I have some great rates - message me if you're interested.

Wow, ok...how do I have my say then?
Well, either pick up a leaflet at Roots Hall tonight (I'll be handing them out), or follow these steps.

1. Download Skype here & Sign in to Skype.
2. Log on to Longpier and click 'Longpier Live' box
3. Follow the on-screen instructions and log-in to the Skypecast (with your Skype name) from 10.30-11.30pm

It sounds too easy...
I've tried to keep it really simple, so yes you should have no problems. I've piloted it on a Windows XP machine, but if you have Vista or Mac then you may have to tinker with the link. Any probs, just message longpier.com on Skype.

Do I have to talk or interact?
Not if you don't want to, you can just listen. But I'm hoping people will use the service to talk to one another. I'll be hosting the show - but eventually I want to stay out of it as much as possible and let people have the discussion on-air and on-line.

What if I want to add my thoughts?
Easy. Click "Ask To Talk" and I'll bring you into the conversation. You can also text me on the comment button on the Skypecast and I'll read out your message. And if you're feeling brave then get on your webcam!

Will it sound like a radio show?
Yes, very much so. In the past week I've had professional jingles made for me as well as leaflets produced promoting the show. I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Great. Can other football fans join the conversation?
Yes Skypecasts are public forums. But in this one, Southend fans get priority in the show. It's produced by a Southend fan for Southend fans.

Good Luck for tonight James and everyone who joins in.
