American born Jemal Johnson has signed for Southend United on a free transfer and agreed a 12-month deal.
He made 11 appearances for Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia, but has played for both Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers in his time, ending up at MK Dons in 2007.
Jemal left the Franchise in January of this year after turning out 96 times and grabbing 12 goals while helping himself to a JPT and League Two Championship medal.
