Francis: Couldn't agree terms

Simon Francis: Staying an Addick for now

Simon Francis' move from League One rivals Charlton Athleic to AFC Bournemouth has fallen through after the right-back failed to agree personal terms.

Ex-Shrimpers legend Chris Powell is the new Addicks manager and accepted a bid last week for the 26-year-old, who subsequently has not travelled to Spain for the club's pre-season training camp.

But after a week discussing personal terms on the south coast, both Francis and the Cherries have been left in stalemate.

Charlton chief executive Stephen Kavanagh told www.cafc.co.uk: "It's been a week since Bournemouth started talking to Simon and although we've done everything possible to make the deal happen, it seems they are unable to agree a deal."

Francis arrived at The Valley from the Shrimpers last summer for £35,000 and made 43 appearances during his debut campaign.

Simon was Southend United's player-of-the-year for the 2009/10 season, his final one at the club.

But young Scott has joined: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
