Betsy: Happy with call-up
Kevin Betsy: 'I want to represent the Seychelles at the IOIG'

Former Shrimper wideboy Kevin Betsy is up for turning out for the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean Island Games, (yes, there is such a thing, and the Seychelles have won it once before, in 2003 don't you know, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Ocean_Island_Games), before he faces League One footy next season with the Chairboys.

There is a family connection, his decision coming 32 years after his father Lewis won a silver medal in the inaugural tournament in 1979.

Speaking to the Seychelles Nation, the 33-year-old said: "My mum and dad wanted me to play for the Seychelles and I feel now is the right time in my career as a player to help my country. I'm happy it has happened. I have a very good relationship with the coach and I want to represent the Seychelles at the IOIG."

Plain old pasta is just not good enough for the Seychelles squad

Seychelles coach Ralph Jean-Louis was impressed with Betsy's impact on the squad, saying: "I didn't expect him to make such an impact in his first match after just one training session. He knows the game and keeps it simple. He gives us the experience we're looking for. He has a very good understanding with the other players on the field."

Blimey, best S24 wishes to the lad.

Suppose it may be warmer than Wycombe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seychelles
