The good Lord was full of praise for his fellow team mates after last nights 3 goal thumping of Leyton Orient as well as admitting that he didn't know about the history between the clubs.

Speaking to www.southendunited.co.uk Lee said: "3-0 against your local rivals - it doesn't get much better than that. I didn't realise how long it has been since we last beat them and obviously five years is a long time. Now it is important to build on this next week and not slip up."

Speaking about how the team has started to click he singled out new dad Lee Sawyer: "Lee is a great player. When he turned up for his first game everybody wondered if he was going to do well but he has done superbly and I only see him getting better and better. The lads are starting to gel now and getting to know each others game. Hopefully we can continue to go from strength to strength."

Sawyer himself was celebrating the treble of a daughter, a goal and a win bonus. "It has been a great week for me with the birth of my daughter and now getting a goal and three points. I thought the team did really well today as we were desperate to make it nine points out of nine. My performance was better tonight than against Crewe and I got a goal so I am even happier. Everybody was pressing straight from the off and I think that set the tone straight from the off and Orient never really got into it."

He went on to speak about a Tilly target! "The gaffer set us a target to get ten points out of five games and now we have nine, (from three), and now we have nine so it would be nice to make it 15 from 15 now. We have the weekend off but we are back in on Monday looking to the Yeovil match and another three points."

So Blues boss Steve Tilson is a happy man as the team get closer to his post Carlisle target. "It was a really good performance from us, especially in the first half. We were bright and positive from the first whistle. We were two goals to the good at half time and we could have been out of sight. Far play to the lads though, as they dug in fighting until Dougie scored the third goal to kill the game off. We have struggled against Leyton Orient in recent years, and it was great to get a win in front of a big crowd."

Tilly praised the extra dimension Freedman has given to the team: "Dougie was excellent again and on top of the four goals he has scored for us, it is what he gives out on the pitch. He gives information to others and tells them where to go. We need that, as we have a lot of youngsters playing in our side. Overall, I've got to be honest, I'm just pleased we beat them tonight." (And so are we Tilly, so are we.)

O's boss though, Martin Ling, had nothing to shout about. "I thought it was a poor performance. We made things very difficult for ourselves by going 2-0 down after 12 minutes and it's an uphill task from there. If you pick the best eight performances from the game they'd all be on their side and individually we didn't do enough. I don't think people earned their corn out there. We put them on the pitch and I haven't earned mine either. It's 8 points from 8 games and that's not good enough - a point a game is relegation form and if we carry on with performances like today's we will be in a fight. I set myself high standards and I want the progression we've had in the last five years to continue. I will make sure we turn it around and turn it around quickly."
