Charlton's Nicky Bailey, a £400,000(?) buy from Southend, warmed up home fans with a cracking goal inside three minutes, earning praise from Wolves manager Mick McCathy who called described it as "an absolute wonder goal". (Great, there all at it!) A sign of a good, confident side, however, is coming back from such setbacks.

Wolves did it twice at Plymouth and then drew level here with a pemalty from Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, after Keogh's clever footwork drew Bailey into a rash challenge. (Bless him, he never holds back.)

All Wolves wanted then was a super sub; enter Sam Vokes, who came on to score Wales' winner against Azerbaijan last week and managed two more here, making it three goals in two substitutes appearances since his move from Bournemouth.

Charlton were hoping to base their own ptomotion challenge on making their home ground Fortress Valley. But that ambition is in tatters after three games.

Manager Alan Pardew said: "We've got a little bit of growing and learning together."

Well Al, you'd better get growing together quickly or Nicky boy will be off with a 'I've always wanted to play for this club' quote ringing in your ear as quick as he gave it to us and Barnet. Good Luck boys.
