May be found in the Arms if your lucky, or even see one if your in there long enough.

From the outside you might have thought twice about going into the Borough Arms. It looked like it wouldn't be out of place in a war zone, a tiny sign the only indication that this isn't a run down house. Even finding the side entrance could turn into a fun game. However, it seems they've added a coat of paint so I hope I don't walk right past it!

Still, once inside, what a surprise. A friendly little place with a large selection of real ales, 9 on tap at the last count including 2 they brew on the premises, a couple of draught real ciders and a large selection of bottled beer from all around the world.

Towards the northern edge of the town centre remember to check the watch as 2.30 can creep up very fast indeed and you'll have to start walking towards the ground, not easy if you've been in there since one!

Find it at 33, Earle Street, CW1 2BG, marked on the map below, or click on to their own web site and find out about this little bit of heaven in Cheshire yourselves.

To avoid being prosecuted under the Trade Descriptions Act I'd better mention some others to try on the way back from the Arms or if you arrive late, especially the final three. All addresses can be seen on the map above.

The Rookery Wood
, (Weston Gate, Weston Road, CW1 6NE), is a huge pub in the 'Two For One' stable about 15 minutes walk from the stadium on the other side of the railway line. Family style hostelry with a Wacky Warehouse etc. On draught are Carling, Carlsberg Export, Fosters, Stella Artois, John Smiths Smooth, Guinness and Strongbow Cider.

There are a number of pubs along Nantwich Road, some more dubious than others, but The British Lion is a real ale venue a few hundred yards from the stadium at 58, Nantwich Road, towards the town centre. Does Tetley's Bitter and Dark Mild and a varying two beers from local micro breweries as guests.

The Earl is less than ten minutes walk from the stadium also in Nantwich Road. Has Sky Sports and Premiership Plus, 7 TV's, 2 plasma screens, a big screen, 2 pool tables and juke box. On draught are Carling, Fosters, Heineken, Kronenbourg, Stella Artois, John Smiths Smooth, Guinness and Strongbow Cider. There's a large car park with 120 spaces, beer garden and expect to see door staff.

Finally, The Royal Hotel, (7, Nantwich Road), is the nearest to the ground and the one to have a sly pint after the game before the coach leaves or if waiting for a train after six. Large Victorian establishment a few hundred yards from Gresty Road. Home and away fans are directed to separate bars - the away fans get Clancy's. The 35 bedroom hotel has pool and a big screen to catch the results.
