Tip the Market Porter: Pub Crawl in Millwall

Last updated : 26 January 2010 By exiledessexboy
Three pubs recommended for a mini crawl if you decide to set off to the Den by train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey.

If going by coach or driving direct to the ground alcohol is sold inside the stadium.

Market Porter

The Market Porter
; 9 Stoney St.

Straight down Borough High Street and left into Stoney Street underneath the rail arches, next to Borough Market, is the S24 favourite.

A true free house it always has three or four guest ales on offer and a couple of very decent ciders if your in the mood. (Beers have been known to change up to nine times a day.)

Best pub food in the area on offer upstairs but sadly the sausage place next to it has closed as preliminary work on the Thameslink rail project has begun.
Also used in a Harry Potter movie apparently.

Sadly, the Wheatsheaf next door has also closed due to the Thameslink work.

Barrowboy and Banker

The Barrowboy and Banker
; 6-8, Borough High Street:

Going back from the market and just over London Bridge, a glorious Fullers pub.

A couple of ESB's in there should get make you feel in a positive mood for what may be a long evening, it can get busy but you should be OK on a Tuesday.

Shipwrights Arms

The Shipwrights Arms; 88, Tooley St:

Nice boozer at the back of the station with two or three real ales always on offer.

Your used to the left hand box by now but for the Shipwrights, middle right in Tooley St., just past the Dungeon.
