Sign entering the military town, so behave!

Around the ground

The Royal Staff, Aldershot

Royal Staff; 37a Mount Pleasant Road.

CAMRA recommended Fullers pub; and though it's located on top of a hill, It does look down onto the football ground!

Family run, it serves London Pride and 2 other ales plus 4 lagers including Kronenbourg and, of course, Guiness on draft.

They welcome home and away supporters and are in a prime postion to the away entrance.

The pub insists they are 'lady friendly', I'm pleased to hear it, and not just a white wine if you girls want a pint!

The Royal Staff is a cosy local with a nice small open log fire to sit by, which may be needed on Boxing Day!

Crimea Inn

The Crimea Inn; Crimea Road.

Many believe this is the best pub in Aldershot, especially since it's been refurbished.

Real ale usually on offer, has been known to sell Adnams and Hobgoblin, worth a look.

Beehive

The Beehive; 264, High Street.

The pub has been under new management since 2009, and the new landlady is friendly, though reported as liking her own product a touch. Must be worth a visit just to see if it's true!

A standard range of Green King produce and guest ales, sometimes including Hardy & Hanson's Olde Trip.

Did receive this from an Aldershot source re the club bar Walley's for last season, not sure if still appropriate:

Just to let you know (as per the pub guide on this site) Wally's (inside the ground is no longer used by away fans. It's been done up and given a new name and given to home supporters (as our main bar has been closed this season).

The La Fontaine is probably your best bet (at the top of Redan Hill) but watch out for the yobletts who hang around sometimes on matchdays trying to give it the big 'un - they're not always there and with any luck the police will be around to keep them away.

It's a bit of a walk up the hill and back down through a park to get to the away turnstiles so allow plenty of time (especially if you're bringing a few) as there's only two (?) gates for you to get in.

Sticking on the main to the Royal Staff myself, I just love a pint of Fuller's, but did take a look at La Fontaine which is at 92, Windmill Road at the bottom of the top right square of the map below, top of Windmill Road, just to find out what an Aldershot 'yoblett' looks like, and saw a few milling around having a shout at some Shrimpers inside, quite amusing!

Safe travelling & good drinking.

Happy Christmas.

Aldershot station; bottom left, the blue blob. (not that it matters, no trains!) Recreation Ground; top left, to the right of the High Street at the end of Victoria Road. The Royal Staff; top of bottom right, Mount Pleasant Road. The Crimea Inn; middle of top left, Crimea Road, above Victoria Road. The Beehive; bottom left, on the High Street.
