Hear the Lion roar: Pub Crawl in Barnet

Last updated : 31 January 2011 By exiledessexboy

To be honest, I haven't worked too hard on this.

Yes, there's probably the odd CAMRA establishment in Barnet but there's now only one thousand and ninety-nine tickets left on the terrace and you don't want to miss out, (we'll take that much, possibily), so these guys will allow you to the odd pint or two, and a large house double on the side, and still see Bilel grab the opening goal from left-back, or wherever Luggy decides to play him this week.

Now that's the sort of comment that draws headlines on other sites, a real exclusive; oh and the club bar at Barnet serves only home fans, so we really do worry about your enjoyment of the day.

Feel the love people, if not your health.

The Old Red Lion; Underhill, EN5 2BB.

The address is a clue that's it's the nearest pub to the ground and the away end!

Had some decent ales on tap the last time I was there, served in plastic glasses on match day, but a small price to pay for the length of time you can stay in the place before you can have to leave for the kick-off.

Queens Arms

Queen's Arms; Great North Road, EN5 1AB.

Had a makeover since our last visit, a big improvement we're told. Good food and more importantly, a decent pint of ale.

if you wish to try all three, make this the second, or the first if you refuse to go in to a Weatherspoon's.

Misty Moon

Misty Moon; 148 High Street, EN5 5XP.

Yes, it is a Weatherspoon's, but the beer's so cheap in these tough days, and to be fair usually pretty good.

More of a walk from the stadium than the other choices, it's north of the tube station, well it is meant to be a crawl for gawd's sake, but please do this one first!

And they have changed the name from the previous given above, we just haven't taken a new photo yet, but don't expect an apology.

High Barnet Tube: Top right; New Barnet Station: Off the map, to the right of the ground, coming in off Station Road; Underhill Stadium: Bottom right.

The Old Red Lion:
Bottom right, Underhill, very close to the stadium!; Queen's Arms: Bottom right, underneath the Great, as in Great North Road; Misty Moon: Not on map, but top left above Bull Theatre, north on High Street, (turn right on the split).

(Thanks to www.beerintheevening.com for the photos, except the top one, which we found on a deceased Shrewsbury Town website, who we presume must have been playing Barnet at the time!)
