Catch the Carlton: Pub Crawl for Rotherham

The Don Valley Stadium; you can get a pint in there somewhere

As this is Sheffield for the game with Rotherham Saturday there are a few decent pubs in the city centre if your coming in by train, but the Don Valley Stadium is on the edge of town and time is short so I've selected just a couple with the news that alcohol is sold within the ground. Enjoy the day.

Picture of The Carlton Public House

The Carlton; 563 Attercliffe Road, S9 3RA.

Around a 15 minute walk away from the stadium, a friendly community local that looks like a shop from outside until you get close up, a small two-roomed pub of which one is a comfortable lounge, and a range of real ales on tap.

It's on the Attercliffe Road with the stadium behind you, turn left along this road, passing the 'Don Valley' chip shop if that takes your fancy.

The Aftercliffe Tram stop is nearby and one stop before the Don Valley Stadium.

Picture of Faras

Faras; 74 Worksop Road, S9 3TN.

The ancient town of Faras is located on the border between modern Egypt and Sudan. It 's been submerged under Lake Nasser since 1964.

And that's your history lesson for the day. A place not normally recommend on the Pub Crawl, not a real ale in sight I've been reliably informed, but one of two pubs just outside the main stadium entrance, so good for those arriving by coach.

Stadium: Bottom right, the clue's in the name; The Carlton: Bottom left, going down Attercliffe Road; Faras: Top right, below the stadium in Worksop Road.
